PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Standard First Aid (SFA) is unique among the DOH-HEMB Courses in that it focuses on building the emergency response capabilities even of nonmedical professionals. It aims to provide the laypersons aside from health personnel the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will enable them to provide efficacious first aid interventions during emergencies and disaster. The training intends to develop the capabilities to provide First Aid interventions in times of emergencies among health personnel and lay rescuers. Persons trained in First Aid have a greater appreciation of the importance of safety, prevention, risk reduction and management. Also, they become advocate of safety awareness and preparedness during emergency or disaster.
OBJECTIVES
1. Assess injured individuals who require first aid.<br/>2. Administer the appropriate First Aid interventions.<br/>3. Demonstrate willingness and confidence when providing first aid.
