PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP TRAINING Strengthening Learning Conditions for Early Literacy Instructions, is focused on the following areas: (1) supporting teachers in the actual application of literacy strategies, use of supplementary reading materials, and leading and facilitating LAC sessions; (2) building understanding of school’s ability to better align instructions across grade levels (Kindergarten through Grade 3) through a cohesive, developmentally appropriate instruction that is integrated across subjects; (3) establishing a school culture and climate that fully integrates SEL, fosters GESI, and promotes well-being inside and outside of the classroom; (4) fostering reflective, evidence-based practices by measuring teachers’ skills and learners’ learning outcomes using periodic, short, and quick tools such as classroom observation and formative assessment.
OBJECTIVES
By the end of this training, participants are given the opportunity to implement a project initiative using instructional supervision practices grounded on a positive climate to improve literacy in the early grades. <br/> <br/>At the end of the training, participants will: <br/>1. Collaborate with fellow school heads to reach a consensus on a shared vision for instructional literacy; <br/>2. Develop a participatory process in engaging a broad base of school community stakeholders in developing a project initiative guided by the shared vision for literacy instruction- the processes of which will reflect the construct of the school as a learning organization; <br/>3. Implement literacy instructional leadership practices based on the demands of learning from home and face-to-face classes modalities; and <br/>4. Design a project initiative plan that covers the following topics: a. constructs of school and classroom climate, learning conditions and instructional strategies that support their own social and emotional competencies and that of their students; and b. the interdependence between school climate, SEL and literacy learning.
