PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Philippine Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (PIDSR) is a comprehensive system established by the Department of Health in the Philippines to monitor, detect, and respond to various diseases and health events promptly. This system integrates multiple components such as surveillance, laboratory confirmation, outbreak response, and public health interventions to effectively manage public health threats. Event-Based Surveillance Response is a crucial aspect of PIDSR that focuses on the timely detection and response to unusual health events or disease outbreaks. It involves monitoring various sources of information like media reports, community rumors, and healthcare facility alerts to identify potential public health threats quickly. The course on Philippine Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response and Event-Based Surveillance Response aims to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively implement these surveillance systems. Participants will learn about the principles of disease surveillance, data collection methods, outbreak investigation techniques, risk communication strategies, and response protocols.
OBJECTIVES
1. To be able to capacitate participants to detect outbreaks and provide timely responses to health threats with data-driven decision-making and enhanced surveillance system.<br/>2. To enhance participants knowledge on rapid detection of unusual events and analysis of early warning systems of emerging threats with potential implications in the community.
