PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The first step in returning life among people experiencing cardiac arrest is successful cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The need to gain competency regarding cardiopulmonary resuscitation practices among health team members should be emphasized to reduce the rate of mortality caused by emergencies and/or cardiovascular accidents. To perform it successfully, current knowledge and technical skills must be updated as well as sufficient self-esteem must be established in accordance with the training and manual guidelines of the Basic Life Support (BLS) Course.
Moreover, in accordance with the Department of Health (DOH) Administrative Order No. 155 s. 2004 stating that “The Basic Life Support (BLS) Training is mandatory to all health workers” and the DOH Health Emergency Management Bureau (HEMB) goal that at least one member of each household shall be trained in BLS—this training serves as an avenue towards the achievement of a CPR-Ready Philippines. In cooperation with the DOH Regional Office IVA-CALABARZON, the Quezon Provincial Health Office shall provide the necessary training and updates in BLS to all the healthcare workers and lay rescuers aiming to deliver the effective and efficient health services in Quezon Province.
