PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Compliance and adherence to infection prevention and control practices is vitally important to meet and maintain safe and high-quality patient care across healthcare setting. The seminar concisely describes the newest core set of infection prevention and control practices required in all healthcare areas irrespective of the type of healthcare provided. The up-to-date practices are preselected among the latest existing infection prevention and control recommendations from Philippine Hospital Infection Control Nurses Association, Inc. (PHICNA) as fundamental standards of care applicable in all continuum of healthcare settings. This IPC symposium will outline the intended purpose to educate nurses on the standard practices to improve and replace antiquated healthcare practices that were previously considered basic and accepted standard of medical care.
OBJECTIVES
To keep up with the cutting edge of healthcare practices, Infection Prevention and Control Unit (IPCU) ultimately aims to up-grade patient safety and quality nursing care through exemplary IPC practices. Hence, by the end of the session, nurse participants will be able to:<br/><br/>1. Distinguish the foremost disease outbreak management in healthcare setting.<br/><br/>2. Recognize and apply the pivotal elements of isolation precaution.<br/><br/>3. Adapt and adhere the standard practices of environmental care.<br/><br/>4. Strengthen the knowledge of proper waste management and its benefits to health.<br/><br/>5. Apply accepted IPC measures in critical care areas in the hospital.
