Basic Life Support (BLS) refers to the care healthcare providers provide to patients who are experiencing respiratory arrest, cardiac arrest or airway obstruction. BLS includes psychomotor skills for performing highquality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), using an automated external defibrillator (AED) and relieving an obstructed airway for patients of all ages. BLS also focuses on the integration of the key skills to help rescuers achieve optimal patient outcomes.
OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this course, the participant will be able to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.
